New article about Chennai from Andreas Köller published in “On site, in time“In his article about Chennai, capital of the federal state Tamil Nadu in India, Andreas Köller illustrates the formation of the different regional Christian churches, which are influenced by the confessional distinctions after the process of Reformation in Europe. The missionary societies brought their divergent understanding of church and belief from Europa to South India. These imported differences lasted until the 20th century. Despite some efforts of the Church of South India (CSI) there is still no harmonious picture of the churches in Chennai.
Dr. Andreas Köller was member of the academic staff at the Leibniz-Institut für Europäische Geschichte and was part of the research group about »Transfer und Transformation der Europabilder evangelischer Missionare im Kontakt mit dem Anderen, 1700–1970«.
