Manager of the Research Training Group "The Christian Churches and the Challenge of 'Europe'"

Personal Details:

Studied German and Dutch at the universities of Wroclaw, Munich and Zürich. 1985–1996: academic assistant at the German Institute in Wroclaw. 1989: PhD (Wroclaw).
Since 1996: member of the academic staff at the Institute of European History (IEG): 1996–2000: worked on the project "Kontinuitäten oder revolutionärer Bruch. Eliten im Übergang vom Ancién Régime zur Moderne (1750–1850)"; 2001–2004: worked on the project "Deutsche und ostmitteleuropäische Europapläne des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts" (in conjunction with the Historical Commission of the Bayrische Akademie der Wissenschaften ); 2005–2007: joint editor of the publication project "Europa-Historiker. Ein biographisches Handbuch"; editorial supervision of the periodical "Majestas" and the "Jahrbuch für Europäische Geschichte".
Since April 2009: manager of the graduate project "The Christian Churches and the Challenge of 'Europe' (approx. 1890 to the Present)".

Current research projects:

Research Training Group: "The Christian Churches and the Challenge of 'Europe'"

The research training group examines reactions in the process of European unification, as well as the repercussions and activities that the process gave rise to in the area of the churches. The project also focuses on the efforts of the churches to insert religious concepts of values into the political processes.
