AtlasInfra

This bilateral collaboration  between Eindhoven University of Technology and IEG Mainz encapsulates in over 40 maps the development of long-distance communication and of transport routes – based on a variety of statistical data – in 19th and 20th-century Europe. The focus is on the economic potential and the economic efficiency which was achieved in the various European countries from 1820 onward through the development of infrastructure. In particular, there are statistical comparisons between individual countries, with short explanatory texts providing background information on the statistics and the maps.
