Research topic: Lessons from Exile: Refugee Schooling and Antifascist Culture after the Spanish Civil War in France and Mexico, 1939-1962
"I am a historian of the culture of Spanish Republican refugees in France and Mexico. My research studies the schools for refugees created in the concentration camps of Southern France as a generative site for a pedagogy of resistance against fascism. I follow the influence of these education initiatives in the two decades after World War II and try to understand how teachers and students in France and Mexico mobilized the memory of the Spanish Civil War. My sources include pedagogy journals, personal papers, memoires, oral histories, and the archive of the Spanish Republican government in exile"
