Conference: »III. Konfession und Kunst. Frühneuzeitliche ästhetische Kulturen im interkonfessionellen Vergleich«
Venue: Johannes a Lasco Library, Kirchstraße 22, 26721 Emden, Germany. From 06-08.10. the conference "III. Confession and Art. Early Modern Aesthetic Cultures in Interconfessional Comparison" will take place. Its starting point is the relationship of early modern aesthetic cultures to the Christian religion in general and its confession-specific manifestations in particular. It is embedded in the cooperation project "Confessional Culture of Reformed Christianity in the North and Baltic Sea Region" between the Johannes a Lasco Library and the Leibniz Institute for European History Mainz. The project focuses on the question of whether a specific profile of Reformed confessional culture can be determined in view of the plurality of early modern Reformedism. This overarching concern will be pursued along central fields of interaction in which possible confessional imprints are expected. The declared aim of the conference is therefore to highlight aesthetic cultures by focusing on art and architecture.
