Conference: "500 Jahre Evangelisches Gesangbuch. Musik – Theologie – Kulturgeschichte"
Andrea Hofmann, a researcher associated with the IEG and Fellow at the Alfried Krupp Kolleg Greifswald, refers to the conference to be held on 23 and 24 March 2023 "500 Jahre Evangelisches Gesangbuch. Musik – Theologie – Kulturgeschichte". Conference Venue: Nürnberg, Archiv der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche in Bayern As a prelude to the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Hymnal 2024, an international and interdisciplinary conference will be held in Nuremberg from 23 to 24 March 2023: Specialised scholars will present the multifaceted history and form of the hymnal from a historical, theological, musical and cultural-historical perspective. of the hymnal from a historical, theological, musicological and cultural perspective. After an overview of the genesis, change and use of the hymnal, the cultural history and history of piety of the Lutheran, Reformed and Catholic hymnals. Finally, the perspectives for the form and use of a future hymnal will be discussed, triggered by impulse presentations on the work on the new hymnal and the accompanying hymnology. In addition to Andrea Hofmann, who will give a lecture on "Frauen und ihre Gesangbücher in der Frühen Neuzeit", IEG staff member Henning Jürgens will also speak on the topic "Exportschlager: Der Genfer Psalter aus europäischer Perspektive". As a representative of the EKD, the former IEG staff member Johannes Wischmeyer, now head of the Department for Church Activities, will also be present.
