Hubert Wolf, full professor of Medieval and Modern Church History at the University of Münster, is a church historian, priest and best-selling author. In 2023 he holds the Johannes Gutenberg Endowed Professorship. His work on the Inquisition and the Index Congregation is particularly famous. His evaluation and indexing of the archival holdings of the Inquisition and the Papal Index Congregation stored in Rome are unique. Hubert Hubert Wolf has had access to the files since 1992, before the official opening of the archives. He writes bestsellers such as the 'church thriller' "Die Nonnen von Sant'Ambrogio" (The Nuns of Sant'Ambrogio) and is known to a broad public as a science communicator through numerous radio and television contributions. In addition to his archival research, his historiographical approaches are innovative. Picture credits: Catrin Moritz
