New Website for DFG-Research Network “The Modern Mediterranean”
The DFG-Network “The Modern Mediterranean: Dynamics of a World Region 1800 | 2000” has a new Website. Member of the network is Esther Möller, since 2015 project leader of a Research Project on the Red Crescent at the IEG (together with Ceren Aygül). The network aims for a critical reflection of the Mediterranean concept, which was developed by Fernand Braudel and others in relation to the antiquity und that increased the stereotyping of this region. The network wants to investigate the modern history of the Mediterranean region and focuses on dynamic transformations of people, things and ideas in this region and beyond.
For this purpose the networks organizes a series of conferences, amongst others in the Mediterranean cities Istanbul, Rome, Beirut und Venice.
