Already in 1534, an ethiopian monk travelled to Wittenberg, Germany, to establish contact with Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon. It is the beginning of a theological dialogue and with that the start of an intertwining history of the ethiopian-orthodox christianity and the european protestantism. Paulau's work opens for the first time their history of multiple interactions from the 16th to the early 20th century.

Thereby, Stanislau Paulau publishes his thesis which was awarded the Dissertationspreis der Dr.-Walther-Liebehenz-Stiftung 2020.
