Conference report "Iconic Figures" published
The report of the conference "Iconic Figures Intersecting Religious and Political Narratives of the Past" from 07.12-09.12.2022 in Berlin has now been published on HSozKult.
The conference took place in the context of the Leibniz Research Network "Value of the Past", which researches value formation processes and value competitions in social debates about the past. The cooperation event was organised by Stanislau Paulau, associate researcher at the IEG and junior professor for Global Christian History at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, and Heike Liebau and Abdoulaye Sounaye from the Leibniz Centre for Modern Oriental Studies in Berlin.

During the three-day conference, international experts examined the question of when and how societal transformations or crises were instrumentalised by political and religious groups and which alternative values and norms, selective readings and constructions of the past they thus produced.
The conference report was written by Marta Podvolotskaya from the Leibniz Centre for Modern Oriental Studies.
