New publication „Humandifferenzierung im Vergleich“
The volume “Human Differentiation in Comparison” co-edited by IEG researcher Anne Friedrichs has been published. It brings together fundamental findings from the Collaborative Research Center 1482 at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) and the Leibniz Institute of European History Mainz (IEG).
About the book: People are constantly involved in processes of one-sided or reciprocal categorization. They differ from each other - for example with regard to age, gender, origin, performance, religion, etc. - as well as from non-human entities such as animals, gods or artifacts. However, individual forms of such human differentiation can only be understood, if they are compared with each other. This transdisciplinary volume addresses the question of how such comparisons can be conceptualized and empirically examined.
