10 years of mainzed – a milestone for digitalization in the humanities and cultural studies!
On November 6, 2015, mainzed, the Mainz Center for Digitality in the Humanities and Cultural Sciences, was founded as a network of six partner institutions. Since then, mainzed has developed a strong profile in the areas of digital methods, data management, and humanities research, paving the way for participation in the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI).
As Johannes Paulmann, spokesperson for NFDI4Memory and director of the Leibniz Institute for European History (IEG), emphasizes, »With the DH Lab and NFDI4Memory, we have established digitality at the IEG in recent years, and the many employees who have come to us from abroad find an ideal environment in the mainzed network.«

Today, mainzed partners play a central role in NFDI4Objects, NFDI4Culture, and NFDI4Memory, which are dedicated to securing and reusing research data from cultural heritage and historical studies. In addition to the Leibniz Institute for European History (IEG), the participating institutions include Mainz University of Applied Sciences, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, the Akdademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur, the Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie (LEIZA, formerly RGZM), and the Institut für Geschichtliche Landeskunde Rheinland-Pfalz e. V..

We warmly congratulate all partner institutions on 10 years of mainzed and look forward to many more years of digital cooperation, innovation, and joint research!
