  • 24th Mainzer Büchermesse – the IEG will be there!

    Lecture by Fani Gargova, research associate at the IEG, on Saturday, October 25, at 11 a.m. in the Kalkhof-Rose-Saal. Topic: “The Central Synagogue of Sofia: A Reflection of Social and Religious Modernization Processes.”

    On October 25 and 26, 2025, at the Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz.
    Opening hours: Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission 30 minutes earlier.
    As always, admission is free.

  • IEG Fellowships for Postdocs (m/f/d)

    The IEG awards fellowships to international postdocs conducting research in European history, the history of religion, and other historical disciplines (including Digital Humanities).

    The IEG funds research projects on European history from the early modern period to contemporary history.

    To mark the 75th anniversary of the IEG, we warmly invite our former fellows to an Alumni Meeting in Mainz! Together, we will look back on 75 years of the IEG, focus on current historical research, create space for memories and exchange, and (re)discover Mainz.
