Senior Research Fellowship

The Senior Research Fellowship Programme enables the Institute to invite renowned scholars from abroad to pursue their own research projects in Mainz and exchange ideas with researchers at the IEG. This allows existing collaborations to be implemented and deepened, as well as new joint research projects to be planned for the future. The IEG’s Senior Research Fellows usually come to Mainz for one to six months. They are provided with an office space at the Institute and free guest accommodation in the centre of Mainz.

The funding

• Stays ranging from a few weeks to several months are possible
• Free stay in our modern, fully equipped guest apartment in Mainz’s old town – also possible with a partner or family; bed linen and cleaning service
• 30 euro daily allowance
• Travel expenses covered up to 500 euro (within the EU) or 750 euro (from outside the EU)
• Use of a shared office
• Opportunity to present your research project at the weekly research colloquium and to share your expert knowledge in a master class workshop
• Opportunity to use the institute’s scientific infrastructure and participate in all activities

The Executive Board and the Research Committee decide on the acceptance of interested parties as Senior Research Fellows.
