Moritz Schmeing

Research Associate in the Leibniz Project "Ambivalent Pasts: On Jewish Colonial Experiences"


Moritz Schmeing studied History, Cultural Studies, and Political Science at the Universities of Leipzig, Jena, and Kraków between 2012 and 2019. From 2020 to 2026, he pursued his doctoral studies at the Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture – Simon Dubnow, where he completed a dissertation on Jewish members of the Italian Fascist Party. His doctoral research was supported by, among others, the Hans Böckler Foundation, the German Historical Institute in Rome, and the German Study Centre in Venice. In 2025, he also worked as a research assistant in the collaborative project Making the Object the Subject: Communicating Everyday Jewish Culture in Germany.
