Forschungsthema: At the Origins of European anti-Colonialism: the Struggles of Indian, Pakistani, and Bang-ladeshi Workers in Britain, 1960s-1970s
"My project examines diaspora politics among South Asian communities in Britain during the early postcolonial period. It focuses, in particular, over labour struggles of Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi migrants: it explores organized collective action, the relationships across and within these communities, the development of sub-national economic networks and informal economies and how these labour formations remained connected to anti-colonial political struggles across the former colonial world. By drawing on new and underexplored primary sources, the project contributes to the historiography of postcolonial Europe by illuminating the labour politics of immigrant communities that have received limited scholarly attention. More broadly, it advances theoretical debates on the intersections of class, race, and migration in the making of early postcolonial Europe."
