Research topic: Geopolitics, Territory, and the Lost Spaces of European Christianity
"Since its expansion into Europe in the 1st century, Christianity became a religious, social, and territorial force, shaping cultures and linking theology with political power. The 20th century brought dramatic shifts: world wars, new borders, collapsing empires, and secular states reshaped Christianity’s geopolitical landscape in Europe. Churches lost territories that had defined their identity for centuries. My research project explores this transformation, combining religious history and European geopolitics. Through case studies of Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant “lands”, it describes and analyzes the fundamental reconfiguration of Christianity’s geopolitical map during the 20th century."
