Once again this year, the IEG will be taking part in the Mainz Science Market for Schools 2026! On ‘School Friday’, 11 September, our research associates Dr Sofia Baroncini and PD Dr Sabina Ferhadbegović are offering exciting events for pupils to give them an insight into history and academic research. Interested teachers can register themselves and their classes from 6 June.
“How can computers understand culture?” is the central question of Dr. Sofia Baroncini’s event, where she will provide an insight into the interdisciplinary research of the Digital Humanities. Through a guided group activity, the pupils will have the opportunity to explore information processing through the Semantic Web.
In her event on the topic “Paths to Salvation: Women in the Resistance against National Socialism”, PD Dr Sabina Ferhadbegović will introduce courageous women who stood up against persecution during the Nazi regime. Pupils can thereby learn about the different shapes that resistance and solidarity can take.
