| "My project examines the training of indigenous doctors, nurses, and midwives in colonial Southeast Asia at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Using the case studies of Dutch Indonesia, German New Guinea, and British India, I demonstrate that the establishment of a comprehensive health care system was a transimperial process based on diverse scientific, practical, and traditional knowledge disseminated and transmitted through various media." |
