Research topic: "Taverns, Drinking, and the Organisation of Resistance in the German Peasants' War (1524-26) and the Revolt of the Comuneros, 1520-21"
"My work investigates the experiences of common people in two revolts: the German Peasants’ War (1524–26) and the Spanish Comuneros Revolt (1520–21). Despite longstanding historiographical debates on the causes of these conflicts, how unrest spread and resistance was mobilised remain curiously underexamined. I focus on the role of social spaces, especially taverns, which are richly attested to as hotbeds of unrest in the Peasants’ War sources. I seek to understand how these spaces amplified collective emotions and catalysed dissent and whether their effects shifted across contexts."
